GUEST WORKSHOP: Intro to Musical Improv - Saturday May 4th 1-4pm
Do you sing in the shower? Do you irritate your pets and loved ones with silly lil songs? If you said yes, then this is the workshop for you! During this 3-hour crash course, musical improv veteran Katy Berry (Baby Wants Candy) will teach you to nail song structure, choreograph effective stage pictures, and apply improv fundamentals like yes-anding, game recognition and pattern building to MUSIC. Students will leave with the ability to improvise fully realized musical numbers and take center stage with unhinged New York CONFIDENCE, baby! Class is delivered in a high-energy, zero-pressure environment where all levels are welcome and no musical experience is required.
KATY BIO: Katy Berry is a comedian, screenwriter, and musical improviser from Long Island, NY. She's traveled the world with musical improv legends Baby Wants Candy, selling out venues including The Kennedy Center and the Edinburgh Fringe Fest. She's also known for her zany alt musical-comedy shows, including Electric Bitch and Diamond Goddess Crystal Pussy, which just returned from a successful debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023. In addition to live performance, Katy has three feature films currently being produced and is a regular instructor of screenwriting at the New York Film Academy as well as the creator of the Musical Improv program at the Brooklyn Comedy Collective. Class Registration
$60 (includes a $20 non-refundable deposit - we have payment plans)
Payment Plans
Select either payment plan when registering for class and you'll only be charged a $20 deposit. You'll be able to pay in installments of $20 or $50 in-person once class starts. It is not a drop-in class, you will be responsible for the whole tuition
